Kvantedatabehandling: Udvikling af kvanteprocessorer, algoritmer og hybride arkitekturer, der kan løse reelle problemer, som klassiske computere ikke kan håndtere. Anvendelsesområder inkluderer optimering, logistik, lægemiddeludvikling og avanceret maskinlæring.
Kvantesimulering & Systemsoftware: Videreudvikling af specialiserede kvantesimulatorer og værktøj til modellering af komplekse systemer – fra kemiske reaktioner til materialeadfærd – som er utilgængelige for traditionelle computere.
Kvantekommunikation & cybersikkerhed: Opbygning af sikre kommunikationssystemer med kvantenøgleudveksling, integration af kvanteinternettet og næste generations kryptografi. Dette inkluderer udvikling af post-kvantum-krypteringsprotokoller, der beskytter data mod fremtidige kvanteangreb og sikrer langtidsholdbar sikkerhed i tråd med Europas civile og forsvarsmæssige sikkerhedsdagsordener.
Kvantesensorik & måleteknik: Udvikling af ultrasensitive sensorer til medicinsk diagnostik, miljøovervågning, navigation og infrastruktur. Muliggør præcise og sporbare målinger til standardisering og certificering.
Relevant Funding Opportunities for Quantum Technologies

For tidlig, banebrydende kvanteforskning (TRL 1–4). EIC Pathfinder består af en kombination af åbne og missionsdrevne finansieringsmuligheder. EIC Pathfinder støtter udviklingen af modige idéer til radikalt nye teknologier og byder højrisiko- og tværfaglige forskningssamarbejder velkommen, der danner grundlag for teknologiske gennembrud.

For high-risk SMEs scaling up validated quantum technologies (TRL 5+). It gives grants and equity funding to innovative startups and SMEs with high impact/risk products or services. A unique combination of funding from €0.5 to 17.5 million to support innovative, products, services or business models that can create new markets or disrupt existing ones. New application process - 3 main stages.

Focuses on late-stage scale-up of quantum prototypes into industrial leaders. The dedicated STEP Scale Up call supports fast-growing SMEs and small mid-caps in transforming breakthrough prototypes into globally competitive industrial leaders. The focus is on quantum technologies, advanced semiconductors and other critical deep-tech enablers. You can also apply as an investor or PLC.

Horizon Europe (RIAs & IAs) Cluster 3
Collaborative R&D and innovation projects across quantum domains, including under Cluster 3 (Civil Security), Cluster 4 (Digital & Industry), and Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy & Mobility).
RIA: Funding Rate: 100% of the project costs are covered by EU funding + 25% overhead.
TRL Level: Typically lower TRL (1-6 ) and involves more basic research.
IA: Funding Rate: 70% of the project costs (except for non-profit legal entities, where a rate of 100% applies) + 25% overhead.
TRL Level: Projects at higher TRL levels (5–8). Products or technologies almost ready to market.

The European Chips Act will unlock unprecedented funding to support the semiconductor sector across Europe and mobilise up to EUR 43 billion of public and private investments through 2030 to bolster Europe’s research, technology and industry in semiconductors. Funding supports R&D and industrialisation of quantum-enabled components.

Includes a Quantum Technologies call for proposals. Grand Solutions projects are high-risk, aiming for ambitious outcomes that drive new knowledge, growth, employment, and societal solutions in Denmark. The projects involve collaboration among companies, universities, and research institutions, covering stages from research to implementation. Projects typically receive DKK 5-30 million in grants and last 2-5 years.
